Vikramjit Singh Sahney, born February 20, 1962, is a distinguished Indian entrepreneur, educationist, social worker, and Member of Parliament who has made remarkable contributions across business, philanthropy, and international diplomacy. A self-made visionary and multifaceted personality, he was honored with the Padma Shri by President Pratibha Patil in 2008 and received the International Peace Award from the President of Mauritius for his outstanding contributions to society.
As International President of the World Punjabi Organisation (WPO), a non-political international body dedicated to "Punjabi Renaissance" with former Prime Minister I.K. Gujral as Chief Patron, Vikramjit has been instrumental in expanding WPO's outreach to over 22 countries including UK, US, Canada, Middle East, South Africa, Thailand, Singapore, and SAARC nations, fostering social, economic, and cultural bonds. He formed the World Punjabi Parliamentarian Forum, led numerous friendship delegations, organized annual Punjabi conferences, and produced spectacular light and sound shows celebrating Sikh heritage including 'Bole So Nihal,' 'Guru Manyo Granth,' and 'Sarbansdani.'
His leadership extends across prestigious positions: Board Member of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), former Trustee of India Brand Equity Foundation (Ministry of Commerce), Member of Board of Trade (Government of India), Member of India-UAE Joint Task Force, Board Member of Muntajat (Government of Qatar) India, former President of ICC Paris-India, former Honorary Consul General of South Africa, and Chair of India Africa Business Forum and India-Arab Council. As former ICC Paris President, he worked tirelessly to promote trade, investment, and open markets globally, engaging deeply with UN, WTO, and multilateral organizations on behalf of worldwide members. His philosophy, "work is worship and charity is path to nirvana", manifests through selfless service spanning two decades, including championing causes like saving the girl child, providing scholarships, celebrating Guru Nanak's birthday at presidential and prime ministerial residences, and installing an equestrian statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Parliament House, exemplifying his unwavering commitment to Punjab's prosperity and India's global standing.
