Dholakia Ventures founding partner
Dravya Dholakia, now 27 years old, is the founding partner of Dholakia Ventures and scion of Savji Dholakia's ₹6,000 crore Hari Krishna Exports empire, one of India's leading diamond manufacturing and exporting companies operating across 71 countries. Born into immense wealth and privilege, Dravya's journey is defined not by inheritance but by intentional hardship, a family tradition designed to instill empathy, humility, and understanding of life's struggles before assuming business leadership.
At age 21, following a family custom established 12 years prior, Dravya was sent to Kochi with just ₹7,000 and three strict conditions: never use his father's name, limit each job to one week maximum, and use the money only for emergencies. Despite holding a Business Development degree from Pace University, New York, he faced harsh reality, rejected by 60 different establishments in a city where he didn't speak the local language. He worked odd jobs including selling food at bakeries, photocopying CVs at stationery shops (where kind owners refused payment), and taking whatever work he could find to survive.
This transformative month-long experience, designed by his father Savji Dholakia to teach "life skills that no academic institution can provide," fundamentally shaped Dravya's perspective on wealth, privilege, and responsibility. The initiative aimed to help him understand how millions struggle daily for employment and survival, insights crucial for leading a company employing thousands. Today, as Founding Partner of Dholakia Ventures with over 128,000 Instagram followers, Dravya invests in early-stage startups while carrying forward his family's diamond legacy with newfound appreciation for the value of money, hard work, and the struggles faced by ordinary people, lessons that will define his leadership approach for decades to come.
