Kairon Capital managing partner
Deepankur Malhotra is the Founder and Managing Partner of Kairon Capital, an early-stage venture capital fund focused on backing resilient, founder-led consumer businesses in India. With 13+ years of investment experience spanning venture capital, private equity, and investment banking, Deepankur brings a holistic lens to evaluate startups on fundamentals, readiness, and intent rather than just potential. A graduate of IIT Delhi (where he worked with Nobel laureate Prof. Peter Gruenberg on Palladium/Iron multilayer structures) and IIM Bangalore, his academic credentials combine scientific rigor with business acumen.
Before founding Kairon Capital in 2025, Deepankur held senior roles at Amazon, where he was part of the Corporate Development team and investment team of the $250 million Amazon Smbhav Venture Fund, focusing on venture capital, growth equity, and strategic M&A opportunities. He led significant investments including the Series D round in FreshToHome, Series C in XYXX Apparels, Series A in Innovist, and participated in Series B of Nat Habit. Prior to Amazon, he worked at Bain Capital-backed funds, Olympus Capital Asia (mid-market PE firm with $2 billion AUM), and Tata Opportunities Fund, where he was involved in Tata's $50 million investment in Uber and served as board observer for Tata Sky.
Deepankur's philosophy centers on partnering with founders who "build quietly but scale deliberately, driven more by conviction than convention," embodying Kairon's Greek etymology meaning "the right moment when preparation meets opportunity."
